There are many ways to get involved and show your support. You can organise your own fundraiser, take on a sporting challenge, sign up for one of our events, play our lottery or make a regular donation – we have something for everyone!
It’s through your generosity that we can go the extra mile to support ambulance service staff and volunteers and save lives in our local communities.
However you choose to support us, we’ll be here to offer advice and guidance every step of the way.
Do your own fundraising
Do you have your own idea for a fundraiser which could support our charity? It could be a bake sale, a raffle, a charity car wash or even conquering your fears on a sky dive! Whatever your idea, we can support you with guidance and useful fundraising resources. These might include t-shirts, collection tins and sponsor forms.

NHS Big Tea
The NHS Big Tea event is back for another year. Will you join us in raising a brew to our incredible NHS colleagues who do amazing things for the communities and patients of the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust? If so, we want to hear from you!
Hold your event on or around the 5 July – whenever works for you.
Whether you get together with colleagues in the office, friends and family at home, at school or in your local community, it’s something everyone can get involved with. We’ll be there to support you one cuppa at a time with a whole heap of resources and guidance to help you in your planning and for the day itself.
The best thing about this is event it that you join in a way which suits you and however you choose to support, you’ll be participating in something very special along with hundreds of other people across the nation – all in aid of our fantastic NHS colleagues. All funds raised will help us in the work we do for communities and to support or incredible staff with vital projects to benefit their health and wellbeing.

The Cross Bay Walk
Join us on a spectacular walk across the stunning sands of Morecambe Bay this summer, on 11 August 2024.
- Distance: 7-8 miles (taking approx. 3-4 hours)
- Registration fee: £15.00 per adult, £7.50 per child (ages 11-16 years)
- No minimum sponsorship requirement

Take in the beautiful scenery of Morecambe Bay in a guided walk led by Michael Wilson, the King’s Guide to the Sands, all while raising funds for the NWAS Charity!
You’ll leave Arnside at around 9:45am and begin your walk across the bay to Grange over Sands. The safe 7-8 mile route typically takes between 3-4 hours to complete.

Great North Run
Lace up your trainers on 8 September 2024 and be part of the biggest half marathon in the world!
- Distance: 13.1 miles
- Registration fee: £30
- Minimum sponsorship amount: £250
You could have the running experience of a lifetime all by signing up for one of our limited Great North Run places this year. Join 60,000 participants on 8 September 2024 and run between Newcastle upon Tyne and South Shields in this iconic event which is 13.1 miles in distance.
Well known for its incredible atmosphere, and iconic landmarks, there is no event like it. So what are you waiting for? Come and experience the Great North Run 2024 and raise funds for North West Ambulance Service Charity. We’ll support you every step of the way as you do something truly amazing for your local ambulance charity. Be part of something special and help us in our mission to save more lives.
All participants will receive a charity t-shirt or vest, training support, on the day support in the charity village and a certificate on completion to accompany your medal.
Outrun an Ambulance – anytime event
Could you conquer the mileage an emergency ambulance covers in one shift?
Outrun an Ambulance is a virtual challenge inviting people to go the extra mile and ‘outrun’ the mileage covered by an ambulance on an average shift responding to emergencies. Don’t worry though, you don’t have to do it in 12 hours! You can choose your method, mileage and time frame for this fun and inclusive event.
Everyone who completes their challenge will get a certificate; those who raise £100 or more will also receive a medal.
