Our award submission this year detailed how our PPP was set up, the wide range of involvement opportunities our volunteer members have been involved in, and the positive influences they have had in helping us improve our patient care.
The Patient Experience Network National Awards (PENNA) are the first and only awards programme to recognise best practices in patient experience across all facets of health and social care in the UK. They are presented and delivered by the Patient Experience Network (PEN). PEN’s vision is to create a unique platform and resource hub of best practice methods and models across the healthcare industry.
Our PPP provides members of the public with an opportunity to have their voices heard and the chance to have their views acted upon. Our PPP has grown in strength over the past three and a half years and we have successfully recruited over 270 members. Our members are representatives from local communities and partner organisations who influence improvements in our emergency, urgent care, patient transport and NHS 111 services.
Our PPP members have been finalists for a range of national awards including PENNA 2022 as well as receiving requests from NHS England to support national projects by sharing their feedback from a patient point of view.
Patient Engagement Manager Yunus Mogra says: “We are so proud of the many achievements we have achieved within a short space of time and grateful for all the support we have received from our PPP members.
“If you would like to volunteer with us and make a difference in your local ambulance service, we would love to hear from you. There are different levels of involvement from consult to influence which means you can volunteer from the comfort of your own living room if you wish to. It takes as little as five minutes to register your interest.”
The winners will be announced at the award ceremony taking place on Thursday 28 September 2023 at University of Birmingham. Good luck to our PPP members and team and everyone who has been shortlisted!
