The ‘Outrun and Ambulance’ campaign was introduced with the hope of providing people with a way for them to focus on their health and wellbeing by fundraising to support NHS ambulance services. It is a virtual challenge inviting people to conquer the mileage an ambulance covers on an average shift while responding to people in urgent need. Emma Scarbrough, 111 Health Advisor (pictured above), completed the challenge last spring. Read her story to find out how she found it.
Ian Savage, Head of Charity, said, “For the ‘Outrun an Ambulance’ campaign to receive the recognition of a second prestigious national award within a few weeks is a testament to the great collaborative working between the six member charities and their trusts who put together the campaign, including several NWAS colleagues – thank you! Outrunning an ambulance is a really great way to boost your fitness in your own way and in your own time.
He continued, “During 2022, funds raised for NWAS Charity from Outrun an Ambulance contributed towards hardship grants for colleagues struggling with financial problems from the cost of living crisis, provisions for welfare support for crews experiencing long handover delays, as well as public access defibrillators in communities without coverage and much more too! We are hoping to fund even more of these initiatives in 2023, so please visit the Outrun an Ambulance website and join the fun!”
